How do I operate and manage my gas heating system?
Especially as you enter the colder months, it is important that you keep on eye your heating system to make sure that it continues to run smoothly.
Water Pressure
Gas boilers operate on pressurised, closed-loop water system. You can check on this pressure via the gauge located on or just under your boiler. Your water pressure should be between 1 and 2.
Radiators
Radiators can individually be operated via the Thermostatic Radiator Valve (TRV). TRV’s don’t control the heat being generated from the boiler (this is governed by the thermostat) but do adjust the flow of hot water into the radiator.
Thermostat
Your thermostat regulates your heating throughout the property and is primarily used to schedule your heating to turn on or off throughout the day and night. You can schedule your thermostat to turn your heating up when you are due to be at home, and to maintain a lower ambient temperature when you’re not. To keep your home dry and safe, aim to always keep your home at least 18C.
